It's not as if you can just swap it for a new one when the pool is built so you need to get it right first time to avoid any nasty surprises when you get the pool ready for use!
The first thing you need to think about is the type of pool you want. In general there are two options – above ground and in ground – each with their own benefits, and you need to think carefully about which one you want to choose.
When most people think of a swimming pool in their back garden they imagine an in ground pool. As the name suggests these are built into the ground and are hence a permanent feature of the garden. For that reason you can pretty much get them in whatever size and shape you desire as they are custom built, but they can cost a lot. Most in ground pools will fun into the thousands of pounds and they can be a lot more.
Another choice you should think about is the size of the pool. Make sure that you still have room around the edges in your garden so it is not completely filled.
A big decider in the type of pool you get is your budget. In ground pools are usually much more expensive, but are definitely the better option if you have the money available as well as the knowledge that you will be in your house for many years to come.
These are just the start of the many options you'll have to decide on when buying a new swimming pool so make sure you take your time and choose the pool that is right for you!
