If You Live In Florida You Probably Have A Pool Enclosure That Needs A Screen Repair

Drive through any neighborhood in the state of Florida, and it wont take long to see that the swimming pools are all covered with pool enclosures or patios. The fact that at any given time, you can also find a large swarm of mosquitoes flying around is one big reason why they exist as well.

The pools on these homes have these pool enclosures built over top of the pools so the home owners can keep themselves free of the bugs. Ask anyone who has lived in Florida for any length of time and they will tell you how bad the bug problem can be during the summer time.

The screen itself is made up of mostly nylon and a real thin plastic coating that has been applied to it. While the screen itself can get old and brittle over time, the enclosures are made out of aluminum so you don't have to worry about rust. These pool enclosures will actually out last your house as long as a hurricane doesn't come through and knock it down.

Doing a screen repair does require that you know what you are doing. While it seems fairly straight forward due to the spline holding in the material, if your not using the proper tools, the job itself will turn into quite the nightmare.

Many people will try to use their local hardware store or places like Lowe's or Home Depot to find the tools and material to do it themselves. They will soon find out that the frustration of using inferior tools will cost them more time than they thought. There are many other materials that home owners can choose from.

There are different hole sizes when it comes to screen material. The standard sized hole is known as 18X14 and is what most people put in their pool enclosures. The smaller hole version is known as 20X20. There are also materials that are made to block out some of the sun as well as screen that is built for privacy.

The life span of the screen material depends on where it is installed. Many times in the top part of the enclosure, you can get 8-10 years out of it before you will need to do another screen repair. The sides of the pool enclosure will last a little longer and go for 10-12 years before needing repair. Animals and weed eaters can also cause damage and be the need of a screen repair as well.

The colors of these pool enclosures are either bronze or white. Due to the fading of the color over time, many people prefer the bronze over the white. Bronze also blends in better when the screws begin to age as well. In the end, if you don't have one of these pool enclosures and you live in Florida, you are in trouble. The bug will eat you alive.

Don't let the condition of your pool enclosure keep you from enjoying what it was created for. If your in need of a screen repair, just make sure you use the proper materials.
