Getting Your Home Ready for the Holidays
With christmas quickly approaching, now could be the time to get your house ready for the inflow of holiday visitors. Although it may still feel too early for deep cleaning and decorating, the decline months are really the most suitable time to do it, before the busy holiday season hits. And getting your home in shape doesn't have to cost a lot of money ; by following a few straightforward rules, it won't take a large amount of time either. With one or two simple phone calls, some contemporary area rugs, and a little vacation decoration shopping, your home will be prepared for the holidays ; and you'll be prepared to concentrate on other jobs like Christmas shopping, realizing that your holiday decorations plans are all prepared.
Before making any decorating plans, you'll want to do some deep cleaning. Depending on your schedule and budget, you may either put aside a weekend to do it yourself, or hire it out. Corporations like Stanley Steemer provide a large variety of services at reasonable costs, and can cover almost all of your deep cleaning needs in one visit. Getting the carpets shampooed, the tile and grout cleaned and the furniture cleaned can all be done in twenty four hours, leaving you to the lighter cleaning jobs you most likely do on a weekly basis anyway.
Once your home is deep cleaned, you will want to appraise the furniture arrangements and the condition of the rugs in the areas where you are expecting to have guests. Ensure the furniture is arranged to maximise social interaction, and if there isn't currently room for your holiday decorations, make some. You do not have to move the furniture immediately, but definitely come up with a plan for how you will need it to look. Also, it's nice to be certain that your area rugs are cleaned and in good repair as the rug is sometimes the one piece that ties everything in a room together.
If your area rugs aren't looking very good, consider replacing them with contemporary rugs that may look good throughout the vacation season and beyond. If they're still in good repair and just soiled, get them cleaned along with your carpets. When your furniture is arranged to accommodate both guests and holiday decorations, or when the plan is formed to do so, it will be simple to plan how you want the room to look. Tear out your decorations and decide if you would like to go with what you already have, or if you want to make a new look. Maybe you would like to go with a classic look you've enjoyed for years . Perhaps you want to do something totally new. Perhaps you just need to add one or two new pieces.
Either way, decide what you need to do, make any purchases obligatory, and remember, don't overlook the rug. As stated before, accessories like braided wool rugs tie the entire look of a room together. If your everyday rug doesn't match your decorating plans, consider buying a new up to date rug that you can pull out during vacations.
Once your plans have been made and your decorations gathered, set them aside till after Thanksgiving. Once Thanksgiving has passed, pull everything out and set up your rooms. With the planning you have recently done, it won't take you long at all to have your house prepared for vacation guests with area rugs.
