Your May Not Need Laminate Floor Cleaner

Just like everything else, laminate flooring does have to be cleaned every once in a while. There will come a time when, even if you don't have a horde of children invading your home all day, you'll need to do some cleanup. Before you go buying expensive laminate floor cleaner, though, read through some of these tips, and maybe save yourself some time and money.

A clean Sweep Is Usually All That Is Needed

A lot of people make the mistaking of believing that linoleum kitchen floors and laminated floors are alike. Cleaners make the linoleum shine, however that is not the case with laminate flooring. Many times one needs only to take a broom or dust mop and clean away all the dirt and dust from the surface of the laminate floor to have it looking like new. Some may choose to use a vacuum instead for the speed factor. If choosing this rout, be careful to use a vacuum without a beater bar, the mechanism used to pound the dirt and debris from the carpets. If possible, use a model of vacuum that has an option for hard floors.

A Little Warm Water Sometimes Does The Trick

Okay, so you swept and vacuumed, but something on that floor still won't budge, so now it's time to buy laminate floor cleaner, right? Before you do that, try using a rag with warm water, no soap, and scrubbing at it a bit. Laminate floors are, after all, designed to be walked upon. Ideally, laminated flooring will resist most stains. It just needs a little human help sometimes.

If All Else Fails, It's Time For Laminate Floor Cleaner

When you have tried with all your might and the warm water on the cloth just will not get your floor clean, it is time to get that laminate floor cleaner. This can be an expensive and confusing process. The manufacturer of your particular flooring usually suggests certain laminate floor cleaner and it is important to stick to their recommendations. This is all because of the top coat on your laminate. Each manufacturer uses a different process to make this coating and the chemicals in the cleaners can react in different ways. If you use just whichever cheap laminate flooring cleaner that you come across, you might end up with damaged or dulled laminate flooring.

Never Soak Your Laminate Floor

Never, ever, ever soak a laminated floor. Neither water nor laminate floor cleaner of any kind should be left standing in a puddle. Moisture can cause laminated floors to warp so quickly that their owners' heads spin. If you think that there is even a chance that you're using too much cleaner or water, then you are. Use only the barest amount of laminate floor cleaner or water and, remember, you can always add more, and it's still a lot better than having to change out your laminate flooring.
