A Fisherman-Inspired Room For Your Child
In decorating a child's playroom or bedroom, having a theme is a fun way to refurbish the space. Your child will have a special getaway place, especially to make each day enjoyable for him. One great theme to apply for a special room makeover is a fisherman's sanctuary. Your little angel might already be hooked with the fisherman's lifestyle of fish, sea and boat. If not, being surrounded with the colors of the ocean and the images of fishing, an absolute fun activity, will make his playtime more exciting.
Start your decorating project with the colors and the backdrop for the room. Use the colors of the beach, painting the top walls blue-green for the water and the bottom walls beige for the sand. Paint small areas a dash of white for a view of the waves. By using a bristled brush with light strokes (no dragging or pressing of the brush), you can create an appearance of grains of sand. This utilizes a dark brown color painted over the beige or light tan shade. If you are quite an artist, you can add a beach scene on one side of the wall complete with beach umbrellas, sandcastles, chaise lounges, big, fluffy clouds, kite and birds, and perhaps cute pictures of children playing and swimming.
Use stuffed fish or fish cutouts as wall decorations. Attach them with mounting hooks and the "water" will have a bounty of excited fish leaping up to greet everyone in the room.
A boat is a fisherman's bestfriend. Having one in your child's room will transform his room into a fisherman's ultimate hideaway. A flat bottom boat is the ideal choice, but if you can't find one, place a wooden frame on the side of the boat so that the boat can easily lean on the wall. Choose your boat decor carefully to ensure that there is enough space left even with quite a big object in the room. Opt for a spacious room instead of a crowded playroom for your child. You can even make the boat your child's very own bed! Remove the seats and use a plank in their place. Cushion with a mattress and beddings in matching colors, such as in blue or green, or printed with "under the sea" designs. Your child will be so thrilled to sleep and take his naps. Lulling him to sleep will be a real breeze every time (once he gets over his excitement, that is).
To complete the look, decorate the floor with an area rug in sand or water color. Matching it with the tan, green or blue of the room will make the space more realistic and coordinated. Compared to a carpet flooring, area rug is much easier to maintain and definitely less expensive. You can spend for more fisherman related decors to accessorize the room. If you prefer an area rug with pictures, there are those designed with a beach theme, animals (fishes in particular) and the ocean. Your child will feel like on a vacation everyday. He will love his new room away from home!
