5 Bathroom Design Tips For Small Bathrooms

A small bathroom is often the most challenging of all bathroom designs. You need to give a lot of thought about how to fit in all the necessary fixtures without ending up with an overcrowded and cramped bathroom.

Let's face it, you don't live in the bathroom, so why do you need room to swing a cat. If you have a larger family, it can get cramped and a little extra room is luxurious but by no means necessary. Just think of all the time you'll save by not having to clean a huge bathroom.

1. Use simple colors

Keep your color light and use natural tones. Don't use overpowering shades and patterns that appear too busy. By keeping the tones lighter it will give the bathroom a light and airy appearance and you won't feel claustrophobic.

2. Replace the old toilet with a modern one

Newer modern toilets are much more compact and efficient these days. The older style can be quite imposing. Replace the old toilet and remember to leave adequate space around and in front of the toilet. You will find there are regulatory measurements for this. You don't want to have your knees around your ears when using the lavatory.

3. Install a frameless shower screen

Using a frameless shower screen is like using mirrors to create a bigger room. It gives the optical illusion of being bigger than it really is. Frameless shower screens are also easier to clean. If that isn't an easy option, then perhaps a sliding shower screen will help out if you are tight on space.

4. Use your corner spaces

If you have a corner space that can be utilized for shelving this is a brilliant storage idea. It is quite the fashion to store your bath towels rolled up in a shelving type of arrangement and looks great. There are also shelves you can purchase that will fit above the toilet cistern. Excellent if you are short on cupboard space.

5. Place your shower above your bath.

Another space saving idea is to place the shower above the bathtub. This not only gives you the best of both worlds for those who still prefer to relax and soak in the bath as against just having a shower, it also cuts down on your cleaning time. When there are children in the house it is often more convenient to have a bathtub. Replacing your larger bath with a half sized bathtub is often a practical solution.

So think about these 5 tips when it comes time to update or renovate your small bathroom. as they are simple but very practical tips that just may save your sanity when it comes to creating the space you need.
