Bathroom Remodeling Ideas

Bathroom is the room in your home that can be redecorated for very little money. All you have to do is buy a few new things to freshen it up. Things like bath sheets, bath and hand towels, a tub mat, washcloths, new shower curtain and rug set. You just need to make sure they are all in matching colors. You can also paint the walls if you like.

In order to achieve a nice new look without spending too much money, following some basic design tips is in order. Refurnishing the bath with new linens is certainly a good start, but it's only the beginning.

The things you should take into consideration before buying anything are the size of the room, the way it is built and if it's light or dark. If it's dark and small then you should choose lighter colors to make it look brighter.

Make a shower curtain out of a full-size sheet using a vinyl curtain as a liner. Or, if you want to hide an ugly tub or do away with the cluttered look in your bathroom, create a bathroom divider with sheets hung from a tension rod placed close to the ceiling a few inches in front of the shower rod. If more than one sheet is needed, seam together at selvage.

Successful decorating requires good color choices. Start by choosing colors and patterns for the largest items, in this case that's a shower curtain. Then use the curtain as the base for choosing colors for towels, bath mat and rug. Don't forget to throw in some accent colors as well.

Consider a reversible curtain for the window, with a print on one side, and a solid on the other. Or make a balloon curtain, using the same material and pattern as the shower curtain.

To make your children happy, put some animal prints on sheets and towels. Let them choose the prints and patterns they like best.

Now to accessories. Once the colors have been established through the paint or wall coverings, the shower curtain, rugs and towels, build on this color theme by choosing soap, toilet paper and pictures for the room to enhance the colors.

You can also consider buying new plumbing fixtures. If you are new to DIY plumbing, it might be a good idea to hire a professional plumber to do the job for you.
