Designing Front and Backyard Landscapes

The idea behind landscaping the front yard is to give better ambience to the house frontage. After all, no one gets into the house from the back. Landscaping the front yard often is the task many people engage in once they own a house and rightly so. But spending a fortune on landscaping the front yard is not called for. There are easy tips if followed can reduce the costs yet giving a nice look to the house front.

Getting on with the work of landscaping in a slow and streamlined manner can result in great ideas as one goes along. The foremost to bear in mind is the fact that the front yard welcomes people to the house. The front yard is the first impression giver and needs to be carefully nurtured. This can be done by creating walkways and bordered by flowering plants and shrubs. The walkways could be pebbled which makes it easier to maintain as compared to a lawn. Cementing the pathway will take out some of the blend and can be avoided.

The landscaping of the front yard must blend with the house and must not dwarf the house which remains the focal point. Having similar types of plants spaced out and giving some small turns in the walkway will make for a pleasant walk as one gets to the house.

The landscaping must try to avoid any sharp corners and such structures already existing could be covered with shrubs or plants. The overall color combination which the yard presents must blend with the exterior color of the house.

The idea of a well planned front yard should try and obscure sharp edges. Cement walls could mar the appearance of a front yard and it is better for these to be clothes with plants that grow vertically. These plants over a period of time will fully cover up the boundary walls giving the whole space a green natural feel.
