Different occasions require the preparation of different tasty dishes that the family enjoys. During these times, family members have different choice but the most favorite are roasted dishes. From turkey, to lambs and even vegetables, one definitely has a roasted dish he/she prefers. These dishes however requires the use of roasting trays which if chosen carefully can help in providing the family with the best ever roasted dish.
Roasted dished require the use of a roasting tray. This is essential in preparing a holiday turkey but can also be sue to prepare all sorts of roasted dishes that can be enjoyed all year round. Such tool can be used under the boiler or in the oven depending on the preference of the individual. Various sizes, designs and styles are offered in the market along with the different material types also sold such as silicone, heat treated glass, enamel and ceramic. All roasting trays are also designed to be able to withstand intense heat.
Shallowness or depth of the roasting tray is one of the two ways they can be classified. This can be identified based on the need for a rack of not. Racks are roasting accessories necessary for those who want to separate the meat form all excess fats and juice drippings. Shallow trays are usually void of racks and can only be used to cook small cuts of meat and vegetables. Large and deep trays on the other hand are used to cook meat and vegetables simultaneously for easier and faster cooking. This type can also be sued for baking or as basin when cooking.
Other than shallowness and depth, roasting trays can also be classified depending on the type of material they are made. One common type of these pans is the aluminum roasting tray. This type is the least expensive among the ones available in the market and is disposable after one use. The second type is the stainless steel pan. This usually have a non stick coating which makes it perfect for making roasted turkey. The third is the coated enamelware which has a non stick surface. Fourthly, there is also the cast iron tray which is a good heat conductor and can be used both in the roaster and on the stovetop. Lastly, there are the clay cookers which can brown food once the oven temperature is increased.
Among the many varieties of roasting trays available, choosing the best can be a bit difficult. The size of the oven is one of the first things that need to be checked before choosing. The tray should be big enough to hold the food that will be roasted but is also small enough to fit in the oven. Material made of the tray is also important especially to the person cooking. Non stick pans are popular these days as they are easier to clean while stainless steel and aluminum pans are choices of those who want to be able to use trays for deglazing. Strong handles are also a must in order to be able to lift the tray easily. Finally, make sure to check the shape. Oval pans are great for cooking turkey while rectangular ones are perfect for other dishes.
Remember that a good roasting tray for one is not always the best one for another. The efficiency and ease of use of roasting tray still depends on the person using it.
